Carmine V. Genovese

Name: Carmine Vincent Genovese II
Date of Birth: October 11th 1979
Born: Edison, NJ

Family:

Carmine Genovese, named after his Uncle, Carmine Vincent Genovese of Rahway, NJ who was killed in service of our country during the Vietnam War, comes from very humble beginnings and was raised in a very traditional Italian/American household. Carmine’s father was raised in the Newark Area and his mother’s side of the family comes from Brooklyn, NY. His grandparents immigrated from Naples, Italy in the early 1900’s and built a life for their family, based on hard work and assimilation to the American way of life. Carmine’s father, due to poor economic conditions in North Jersey, was forced to drop out of middle school in order to help support his family. Through his family’s history of hard work and determination, Carmine learned at an early age that success in this country can be achieved through hard work.

Professional Experience:

Early in his professional career, Carmine worked as a Human Resource Manager, learning in depth the legal issues of employment. Most importantly, he learned the hardships of what unemployment can bring to families and the importance of reliable, sustainable employment to our communities. From there he moved onto the field of education and began teaching history in the Piscataway and Somerset County school districts. He is currently teaching history and political science at Middlesex County College and Lawrenceville High School, where he also coaches baseball.

Political Career:

Carmine is a candidate for the North Brunswick Township Council. During the 2009 Gubernatorial Campaign, Carmine worked as a Grassroots coordinator in the Middlesex County Office. He worked within a large organization of both staff and volunteers; where his leadership, energy, and enthusiasm were instrumental in bringing a Middlesex County victory to the Christie Campaign and MOST IMPORTANLY a change for the people of New Jersey. He is currently an active member of the Scott Sipprelle for Congress campaign and is busy working tirelessly on his own campaign for the people of North Brunswick.

Volunteer Work:

Carmine is committed to giving back his time and resources to his community and those who are most in need. He is launching the “Joan Marie Genovese” scholarship fund for a potential college student(s) who are in most need of academic financial support. Additionally, on a weekly basis, he also volunteers in the oncology unit at Saint Peter’s Hospital. Carmine has been a mentor for his current and past students for many years, mentoring our young people on life, and what it takes to be a member of our community who makes a world of positive difference.

Education:

Carmine is a graduate of Edison High School, studied Business Management at Middlesex County College, and graduated from Kean University as a Dean’s List Member and History Major. Carmine’s Master’s Degree is in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from the Nathan Weiss Graduate College at Kean University. During his graduate studies, Carmine was given the honor of being inducted into the Political Science National Honor Society. Carmine is a life-long learner who is dedicated to guiding his students both current and former through college and beyond.

Taxes:

Carmine has pledged his commitment to the people of North Brunswick on the very pertinent issue of property taxes. We are the highest burdened tax state in the country and yet, year after year, under our current administration, our taxes have been on the rise — while North Brunswick residents’ salaries have been stifled and their jobs have been stagnated or lost. Carmine is fully committed to voting NO to any new municipality taxes and reducing spending!

Transit Village:

Carmine is fully committed to the concept of a Government for the people and by the people. He feels the vote and passing of the new Transit Village was an absolute travesty. “There are so many pro’s and con’s to the transit village, but whether someone agrees with it or not, it should have been ultimately decided with a vote by the people of North Brunswick.” “This is such a monumental project that will impact the great town of North Brunswick and our neighboring towns for decades to come, it should not have been decided by seven people (Council and Mayor) but instead by our community. “This, without a shadow of a doubt, should be on the ballot in the November elections.”
